Hunt For Baby Hits Blind Path

Slaying Suspects Seized

Retired Alleghany County Sheriff Leon Smith Dies
Retired Alleghany County Sheriff Leon Smith, 76, of 2618 Valley Ridge Street, died Friday on the Brian Middle Nursing House in Low Moor. He retired from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Division after a 37-year profession having served as a deputy for 27 years and county sheriff for nearly 10 years.

Alleghany Wins Brackman Cup
Members of the Alleghany Excessive Faculty Mountaineer soccer staff hoist the Brackman Cup aloft after defeating the Covington Cougars 42-13 Friday evening at Mountaineer Subject. The Brackman Cup was named after the late Emory Brackman, longtime sports activities editor of the Virginian Evaluate who died in April of 1996.
