Few things beat the cooling taste of a chilled citrus drink on a hot day. While Brazilian lemonade is a longtime favorite, this Sparkling Blackberry Limeade is another simple, bright option that celebrates fresh lime flavor and juicy blackberries. It’s easy to make, ideal for summer gatherings, and can be adjusted to suit your sweetness preference.

This version balances tart lime juice with the deep, fruity notes of blackberries and finishes with fizzy club soda for a lively sparkle. Use fresh berries when they’re in season for the brightest flavor, or frozen blackberries thawed before blending work well too. Serve it over ice for a refreshing summer sip.

Ingredients
- 2-3 cups fresh or frozen-thawed blackberries (Use whatever you have. Frozen berries thawed still yield great flavor.)
- 2 cups water, divided
- ⅔ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- ¾-1 cup granulated sugar (Adjust to taste; ¾ cup yields a pleasantly balanced limeade.)
- 1 QT club soda
Instructions
-
In a blender or food processor, combine the blackberries with 1 cup of water. Puree until smooth, then press the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove seeds. Discard the seeds left in the strainer.
-
Add the remaining 1 cup of water, the freshly squeezed lime juice, and the sugar to the strained blackberry liquid. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
-
Just before serving, gently pour chilled club soda into the pitcher to preserve the fizz and avoid excessive foaming. Stir very lightly or leave as is. Serve over ice and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Yield: approximately 2 quarts — enough to serve a small gathering. Adjust quantities proportionally for larger groups.
