
A pending strike at HCA hospitals in Southern and Northern California has been averted as healthcare employees and administration reached a contract settlement Thursday, Could 18.
A minimum of 3,000 employees voted Could 12 to launch a five-day strike starting Could 22 at Los Robles Medical Heart in Thousand Oaks, West Hills Hospital, Riverside Neighborhood Hospital and two hospitals in San Jose.
The staff represented by SEIU-UHW embrace emergency room technicians, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, lab techs, dieticians, pharmacy techs and cooks.
The contract settlement contains 15% raises over three years and preserves healthcare and training advantages for employees.
A vote to ratify the contract is slated for late Could.
