My family is obsessed with Nutella — that chocolate-hazelnut spread everyone loves. I pronounce it “New-tell-uh.” It’s perfect on toast, in desserts, or for dipping bananas and cookies. Today’s recipe highlights Nutella inside a simple, impressive twist bread that’s easier to make than it looks and fun for kids to help with.

Finished Nutella twist loaf, golden and swirled with chocolate-hazelnut filling.

The Nutella is swirled through the loaf, producing a beautiful marbled effect and rich flavor. Serve the bread warm straight from the oven for the best experience — the filling is molten and the texture is pillowy. Leftovers warm up nicely in the microwave for a few seconds. This loaf also makes a thoughtful homemade gift for holidays or neighbors.

Prep: 30 mins
Cook: 25 mins
Total: 55 mins
Yields 10 to 12 slices

Ingredients

  • 1 Rhodes White Bread Loaf
  • ⅓ cup (98 g) Nutella
  • Melted butter, optional

Instructions

  1. Thaw one Rhodes White Bread loaf and place it on a lightly floured surface.
  2. Roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  3. Warm the Nutella for 10–15 seconds in the microwave to soften, then spread 1/3 cup down the center of the rectangle, leaving a 1-inch seam along the edges.
  4. Roll the dough up from one long edge to the other, like cinnamon rolls.
  5. Using a knife or bench scraper, cut down the center of the roll lengthwise, leaving 1½ to 2 inches intact at one end.
  6. Twist the two cut pieces over each other until the ends meet, forming a twisted loaf.
  7. Pinch and tuck the ends underneath. Place the loaf on a greased baking sheet, cover with sprayed plastic wrap, and let rise 30–60 minutes until proofed (time varies with room temperature).
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush the top and ends with melted butter if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For an easier spread, warm Nutella slightly so it spreads smoothly. Keep an eye on the loaf toward the end of baking to avoid overbrowning. Leftovers can be briefly reheated in the microwave for a soft, warm slice.
