This Allergy Friendly Orange Julius is creamy, frothy, and delicious, yet dairy and nut milk free!

It’s National Food Allergy Week, and I’ve joined several bloggers to share allergy-friendly recipes. Scroll to the bottom for more ideas.
Eight foods account for most allergic reactions: milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. While my family hasn’t needed to change our diet for allergies, I wanted to adapt one of my favorite drinks so it’s safe for those avoiding dairy and nut milks.

Some might assume Orange Julius is already nut-free, but many dairy-free versions use almond or other nut milks. This recipe works with rice milk or coconut milk to avoid tree-nut milks. If you have a tree nut allergy, check with your physician about coconut: although the FDA classifies coconut as a tree nut, it is not a common allergen and is not closely related to other tree nuts.

Orange Julius makes a great breakfast drink and a refreshing summer treat. It’s quick to prepare in a high-powered blender for a smooth, frothy texture.
