I’m a big fan of OREO cookies and use them in lots of desserts. This recipe is for classic OREO Cookie Balls made festive with a simple Christmas tree decoration on top.

OREO Cookie Balls require only three ingredients: OREO cookies, cream cheese, and melted baking chocolate. They’re easy to make and very customizable—use any OREO flavor to suit the season or your taste. For this batch I picked up everything at my local store and used a coupon for savings.

To keep things simple for the holidays, I decorated each ball with a small piped Christmas tree in green gel and finished with a red candy on top. If you prefer a firmer decoration that won’t smudge, substitute green candy melts or mint chocolate chips, melt them, and pipe the trees from a piping bag or zip-top bag with the tip snipped off.

If you haven’t made OREO Cookie Balls before, the process is straightforward: pulse the cookies into fine crumbs, combine with softened cream cheese until a uniform mixture forms, roll into balls, chill briefly to firm them up, then dip in melted chocolate and allow to set.

OREO Cookie Balls - only 3 ingredients! Crushed OREOS, cream cheese, and melted chocolate!

For these, I used two small tubes of green decorating gel to pipe the trees. When decorating, work on chilled balls so the gel holds its shape. Store finished cookie balls in a single layer in an airtight container in the refrigerator; do not cover them directly with plastic wrap or it may rub off the gel decoration.

These cookie balls are a fun and easy holiday treat. If you make them, try different OREO flavors or swap the gel for piped melted candy for a firmer finish. Enjoy sharing them with friends and family this season.
