Creamy Onion Sauce Pork Chops Recipe

Onion and Cream Sauced Pork Chops

This recipe is one of my favorites for a few reasons. A dear friend made it for us years ago before she moved across the country, and the memory of that meal stuck with me. It’s incredibly tasty, and it’s also remarkably simple—only three main ingredients. You can easily swap the protein: pork chops, chicken breasts, or even steak all work beautifully. The crockpot does most of the work, producing tender meat and a rich, creamy onion sauce. Ready to make it?

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs pork chops, (approximately 4-5 chops)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 packet onion soup mix

Instructions

  • Whisk the heavy cream and onion soup mix together in the crockpot until smooth. Add the pork chops, arranging them so they sit in the cream mixture.
  • Cook on low for 4–6 hours, until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart. Serve the pork chops over rice and spoon the creamy onion sauce on top.

Notes

*Oven method: Whisk the cream and onion soup mix in a bowl. Pour a small amount into a 9×13″ baking dish, place the pork chops on top, then pour the remaining cream mixture over and around the chops. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 250–300°F for 1½ to 2 hours, until tender.

**Use real whipping or heavy whipping cream. Substitutes such as half-and-half or evaporated milk will likely separate and alter the texture of the sauce. This recipe works best with full-fat cream for a rich, smooth sauce—so enjoy it as an indulgent, comforting dish.
