Frosted Lemonade Recipe

All you need are fresh lemon juice, granulated sugar, cold water, vanilla ice cream, and a blender. Chilling the lemonade mixture beforehand helps the sugar dissolve and keeps the shake thick. Using very cold water works well too.

The lemonade portion is intentionally concentrated so the lemon flavor stands up to the creamy vanilla ice cream, giving a satisfying balance of tang and sweetness. This recipe yields about two to three 8–12 oz servings, so it’s perfect for sharing or enjoying over a few short minutes before it softens.

This copycat frosted lemonade is creamy, sweet, and tart — a frozen drink that tastes like a lemonade milkshake. Ideal for summer.
3 servings (8oz each)

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup (80 ml) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup (80 ml) ice-cold water
  • 3 cups (522 g) vanilla ice cream

Equipment

  • Juicer (if squeezing lemons)
  • High-speed blender

Instructions

  • Chill water with ice cubes for several minutes, then remove the ice so the water is very cold but not full of ice pieces.
  • Pour lemon juice, sugar, and ⅓ cup cold water into a blender. Blend until the sugar dissolves. You can also stir the lemon, sugar, and water separately before adding to the blender.
  • Add the vanilla ice cream to the blender and blend until smooth and combined. Divide among three 8 oz cups and serve immediately with a spoon or straw.

Notes

  • Budget vanilla ice cream works well for this recipe.
  • You’ll need about 2–3 lemons depending on size to yield ⅓ cup juice.
  • Lemon juice from concentrate can be used in a pinch.
