This Easy Garlic Hummus comes together in under a minute for a silky, homemade dip that pairs perfectly with fresh vegetables and crackers.

At times I get into stretches where all I want are crisp, cold fruits and vegetables. I’m in one of those phases now—helpful since I’m a little further along in pregnancy than I expected and trying to focus on healthier choices with about a month to go.

When I’m on a healthy kick, homemade hummus is my go-to for dipping carrots. The contrast between sweet, crunchy carrots and creamy hummus is irresistible. This recipe is quick, straightforward, and yields a super smooth garlic hummus that’s perfect for snacking.

I use canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans) to keep this fast and simple. If you prefer, cook dried chickpeas and use the cooking liquid in place of the reserved can liquid. Tahini (ground sesame paste) is the priciest ingredient here, but a jar makes many batches—I’ve gotten around eight batches from one container. The other ingredients—lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, cumin, and olive oil—are staples I usually have on hand, which makes this hummus a reliable snack option.

My favorite pairing is carrots—if you’re choosing a healthy dip, why not choose a healthy dipper too? Pita chips are another favorite, and snap peas or bell pepper strips are excellent choices as well. This versatile hummus works with nearly any crunchy vegetable or cracker.

Have you tried making hummus at home? What flavor do you like best? Enjoy your healthy snacking!
