This copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits recipe is irresistibly good: crisp edges, a fluffy interior, lots of cheddar, garlic, and a buttery herb topping. You won’t be able to stop at one.

I’m not much of a seafood fan, but the Cheddar Bay Biscuits at Red Lobster are the one thing that always makes me tag along when my family wants seafood. I can easily eat a plateful of those biscuits, and when I can’t get to the restaurant, I make them at home.

These homemade Cheddar Bay Biscuits are simple to prepare and come out very close to the original. The recipe below yields six large biscuits, but it doubles easily if you want more. They pair wonderfully with soups, salads, chicken, and many dinner mains.

Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits
Ingredients
Biscuits:
- 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour (stir, spoon, & level)
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 cup (84 g) grated cheddar cheese
- 5 Tbsp (71 g) unsalted butter, cold
- 1/2 cup (118 ml) buttermilk
Butter Topping:
- 3 Tbsp (42 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp parsley flakes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- For the biscuits: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the shredded cheddar and stir to combine.
- Pour in the buttermilk and mix until the dough comes together and is evenly moistened.
- Use a large spoon or ice cream scoop to drop balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden.
- For the butter topping: Melt the butter, then stir in the garlic powder, salt, and parsley flakes. Brush the mixture generously over the warm biscuits.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
