I haven’t been to IKEA, so I’ve never tasted their official meatballs, but this copycat recipe is excellent. These Swedish meatballs stay moist and are full of flavor. They’re easy to make and come together quickly—perfect for a weeknight dinner or a cozy weekend meal.
This version is kid-friendly (my 2½-year-old happily ate them) and very adaptable to your taste. Below you’ll find detailed ingredients and simple instructions to make about 24 one-inch meatballs with a rich, creamy gravy served over egg noodles. Enjoy!

Ingredients
Meatballs:
- ¾ cup Progresso Italian Style Bread Crumbs
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup onion, minced or small dice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp ground allspice
- Kosher Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large egg + 1 egg white, beaten
Sauce:
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups low sodium beef broth
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 ½ Tbsp dried parsley
- Kosher Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 10 oz egg noodles
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Add the breadcrumbs to a large bowl. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add the minced onion, garlic, ground allspice, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
-
Whisk the milk and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce into the skillet and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
-
Pour the hot mixture over the breadcrumbs and stir until it forms a thick paste. Let it cool slightly, then mix in the ground beef, beaten egg, and egg white with a fork until well combined.
-
Line a large baking sheet with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray. Roll the meat mixture into 1-inch meatballs and arrange them on the sheet, close but not touching.
-
Bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, or until cooked through. Smaller one-inch meatballs typically take about 15 minutes.
-
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil for the egg noodles. Start the gravy: melt 4 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Whisk in 1/4 cup flour until smooth, then slowly whisk in the beef broth and 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
-
Whisk in the heavy cream and dried parsley. Add the cooked meatballs to the gravy, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 10 minutes so the flavors meld.
-
While the meatballs simmer, cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain the noodles and serve the meatballs and creamy gravy over the hot noodles. Enjoy!
