Layered drinks are a festive party treat, and this Candy Corn Punch is a playful, Halloween-ready option.

Halloween is just a month away, and I have a confession: I’m not a fan of candy corn as a candy. Don’t judge—what I do love are the bright, iconic colors. They make a great visual theme for seasonal treats, which inspired this Candy Corn Punch.

My husband picked up pebble ice from Sonic to shoot this recipe, and it really helps the drink look polished. The small ice pieces also assist in supporting the lighter, whitish top layer that can be hard to achieve with some beverages.
There’s a bit of simple science behind layered drinks. To create distinct layers, use liquids with different sugar densities: the highest sugar content will sink to the bottom, a medium sugar content will sit in the middle, and low- or zero-sugar drinks will stay near the top. Aim for at least a 10-gram sugar difference between layers when possible. In my test, the zero-calorie Coconut Cascade Ice didn’t form as solid a white layer as I expected—perhaps I poured too quickly—but the pebble ice helped give the top a white appearance. After all, candy corn itself only has a tiny white tip.

Flavor-wise, this punch is bright, citrus-forward, and tropical. It’s refreshing and fun for a Halloween gathering. For an alternate drink selection that resulted in three clear layers, see my friend Sarah’s version of this Candy Corn Punch.
