We grill outdoors year-round—why not? Some dishes are simply better with that smoky, charred flavor, and this Barbecue Chicken with Bacon and Cheddar is one of them. It’s simple to prepare, wildly satisfying, and quickly became a regular on our dinner rotation.

This month, Kraft Barbecue Sauce launched an updated line with improved recipes featuring quality ingredients like tomatoes, molasses, cider vinegar and cane sugar. The new line offers eight varieties across smoky, sweet and spicy categories: Original, Hickory Smoke, Sweet Honey, Mesquite Smoke, Sweet Brown Sugar, Sweet & Spicy, Spicy Honey, and Thick & Spicy. The bold flavors and better ingredients make it easy to build reliably tasty barbecue meals at home.
Ingredients

This recipe uses just four main ingredients and yields a complete, satisfying meal. For four servings you’ll need:
- 16 oz boneless skinless chicken breasts (about four 4-oz pieces)
- 8 regular slices of bacon (two per chicken breast)
- 1/2 cup Kraft Sweet Honey Barbecue Sauce, divided (half for basting, half for drizzling)
- 4 slices medium cheddar cheese, each quartered
We cooked this when there was still a bit of snow on the ground—so yes, you can get great grilled results even in cold weather. Just bundle up and enjoy the process.
How to Make It

Follow these straightforward steps for tender, saucy chicken with melty cheese and crisp bacon:
- Preheat your grill.
- Wrap each 4-oz chicken breast tightly with two slices of bacon.
- Place the wrapped chicken on the grill. Cook about 6–7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, basting with barbecue sauce as desired.
- Top each cooked breast with a slice of cheddar that’s been quartered and stacked to cover the chicken.
- Drizzle the remaining barbecue sauce over the cheese and heat briefly on the grill until the cheese melts.
- Remove from the grill and serve immediately.

This recipe is designed for ease and flavor. The bacon adds crisp saltiness, the barbecue sauce brings sweet-tangy caramelized flavor, and the cheddar melts into a rich, creamy topping. It’s an ideal weeknight meal or a satisfying option for weekend grilling.
