Summer means easy dinners, late nights outdoors, and food that doesn’t overcomplicate the evening. These Hot Ham and Pineapple Campfire Sandwiches capture that spirit: minimal prep, great flavor, and almost no cleanup. You don’t need to actually camp to enjoy them — they work on a grill, over hot coals, or baked in the oven. They’re a year-round, crowd-pleasing hot sandwich that the whole family will ask for again.

What I love most is how these sandwiches can be eaten straight from the foil, which means fewer dishes and more time to relax. The recipe uses Rhodes Artisan French Rolls — a Warm-N-Serv™ product that heats in about 8 minutes and becomes crisp on the outside and soft inside. They’re an ideal base for this sandwich, but any sturdy roll will do.

Assemble each sandwich with a smear of honey-Dijon, folded slices of deli ham, a pineapple ring (or half), and a slice of cheddar. Wrap tightly in heavy-duty foil and heat until everything is warmed through and the cheese is melty. They’re ridiculously easy and delicious — a simple recipe that’s become a family favorite.

Ingredients
- 6 Rhodes Artisan French Rolls, thawed to room temperature
- 9 oz deli sliced ham
- 6 pineapple rings, cut in half if desired
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 Tbsp honey
Instructions
-
Cut each roll in half. In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey. Spread the honey-mustard on the bottom half of each roll.
-
Build each sandwich: fold a few slices of ham and place on the honey-mustard, add a pineapple ring (or half a ring), then top with a slice of cheddar and the top roll half.
-
Wrap each sandwich tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place over hot coals or on a grill rack until heated through, about 20 minutes depending on fire temperature. Or bake on the center rack in a 400°F oven for about 15 minutes. Carefully unwrap and serve.
