These bars go by many names—magic bars, kitchen sink bars, million dollar bars—and there are countless variations. That’s the beauty of this recipe: you can easily customize the crust, binder, and toppings to fit your tastes.
At its core, the recipe is simple: a crunchy crust (graham crackers, chocolate grahams, crushed Oreos, or vanilla wafers), a binding layer of sweetened condensed milk, and a mix of toppings like chocolate chips, nuts, coconut, candies, or pretzels. Quick, flexible, and endlessly adaptable.

These caramel pretzel magic bars are especially welcome at holiday cookie exchanges and make thoughtful neighbor gifts—sweet, salty, and crunchy all at once.

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup (156 g) graham cracker crumbs
- 6 Tbsp (85 g) butter, melted
- 14 oz (396 g) can sweetened condensed milk
- 50 mini pretzels, (I used Snyder’s Snaps)
- 20 caramels*, unwrapped & cut in fourths
- 1 cup (170 g) milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup (120 g) sweetened coconut flakes
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter and press the mixture firmly into a sprayed 13×9-inch baking pan to form an even crust.
-
Pour about half of the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust.
-
Arrange the mini pretzels close together across the condensed milk layer, covering as much surface as you prefer.
-
Sprinkle the caramel pieces (or caramel bits), milk chocolate chips, and coconut flakes over the pretzels.
-
Pour the remaining condensed milk over the toppings, spacing it as evenly as possible.
-
Optional but recommended: break a few extra pretzels and sprinkle a handful of additional chocolate chips on top for extra color and crunch.
-
Bake at 350°F for 20–30 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and bubbly. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
