If you plan to spend time baking on Christmas Eve, you’ll appreciate a morning recipe that comes together quickly. This braid looks impressive but is surprisingly simple to assemble. Your family will love waking up to this warm, fruity, chocolate-studded pastry on Christmas morning.

Chocolate Cherry Cream Braid
Ingredients
- 12 Rhodes® Dinner Rolls, thawed & slightly risen
- 4 oz (113 g) cream cheese
- 2 ½ Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ can (298 g) cherry pie filling
- ¼ cup (43 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Beat the cream cheese with the granulated sugar and vanilla until smooth.
-
Press the thawed rolls together and roll into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface or silicone mat. Spread the cream cheese mixture down the center third of the rectangle. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese, then sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
-
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut 1″ strips (tabs) along both long sides of the rectangle up to the filling. Working from one side, stretch a tab gently, lift it over the filling, and lay it across the center. Alternate sides in a criss-cross pattern to form a braid. Pinch and tuck the ends to keep the filling contained.
-
Let the assembled braid rest 10–20 minutes to relax the dough.
-
Bake at 350°F for 30–40 minutes, covering with foil during the last 15 minutes if the top is browning too quickly. Bake until the dough between the braids is cooked through.
