Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo Shells is a delicious way to use leftover rotisserie chicken in a creamy, cheesy pasta casserole. It’s an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will enjoy.

I don’t make Alfredo dishes very often these days, but when I do I’m reminded how comforting they are. I usually choose lighter pasta options like whole wheat with marinara, but this recipe was irresistible. I made it with leftover rotisserie chicken and everyone loved it — even the picky kids, though the broccoli wasn’t their favorite. This casserole is simple to prepare and reheats well, making it a great option for busy evenings.

The dish combines tender pasta shells, steamed broccoli, shredded chicken and a jar of Alfredo sauce, finished with melted cheese on top. It’s straightforward, forgiving, and ideal when you want a filling, comforting meal without a lot of fuss. Below is the recipe formatted for easy reading and use.

Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo Shells
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat medium shells (about 8 oz)
- 2 ½ cups fresh broccoli, cut into small florets (just the head, no stem)
- 2 cups cooked diced or shredded chicken (rotisserie works great)
- 16 oz jar Alfredo sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (medium cheddar or mozzarella)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Instructions
-
Cook the pasta shells according to package directions (about 10–11 minutes). Drain and return them to the pan. Stir in the Alfredo sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder, then set aside.
-
Place the broccoli florets in a microwave-safe container with a little water and cover loosely. Microwave on high 2–3 minutes, depending on how tender you prefer them; they will continue to cook in the oven.
-
Prepare the chicken by dicing or shredding it. If using leftover rotisserie chicken, warm it briefly in the microwave so it’s hot with the other ingredients.
-
Add the broccoli and chicken to the sauced shells and mix well. Transfer everything to a greased 13×9-inch baking dish and sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
-
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–30 minutes, until the casserole is bubbly and heated through in the center. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes
Substitute vegetables or cheeses to suit your family’s tastes. Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for 3–4 days and reheat nicely in the oven or microwave.
