These easy Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are loaded with garlic, cheese, and herbs—perfect for pizza night and delicious dipped in marinara.

We usually have homemade pizza once a week. Using store-bought frozen dough makes it quick and everyone thinks it’s a treat. My kids, however, don’t like red sauce, so I make these Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks for them instead—no sauce, lots of cheese, and they disappear fast.

I thaw one loaf of Rhodes White Bread, roll it out on a pizza pan, brush it with garlic butter, sprinkle herbs and parmesan, top with shredded mozzarella, bake, and slice into long breadstick pieces. It’s simple, family-friendly, and tastes like a favorite bakery-style breadstick—make extra because it gets eaten quickly.

This version reminds me of the cheesy garlic bread from a favorite take-and-bake pizzeria. It’s an easy homemade alternative with familiar flavors—garlic, herbs, parmesan, and gooey mozzarella.

Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks
Ingredients
- 1 Loaf Rhodes White Bread, thawed*
- 2 Tbsp butter, salted or unsalted, melted (alternately use olive oil)
- 1 ½ tsp minced garlic
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried parsley
- ¼ tsp dried basil
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- 1 Tbsp grated parmesan
- 1 ½ to 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Place frozen dough on a greased pizza pan. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let thaw at room temperature for 4–5 hours.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Use a rolling pin to roll the thawed bread into a large circle on your pizza pan. (See TIP below before proceeding.)
- Combine the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush evenly over the dough.
- Mix salt, garlic powder, parsley, basil, oregano, and parmesan. Sprinkle over the buttered dough.
- Top with shredded mozzarella. Let rest 15–30 minutes to rise slightly.
- Bake at 425°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust and cheese are golden brown.
- Cool slightly, then cut into long, thin strips. Cut halfway across the middle for individual breadstick pieces.
Notes
TIP: To help the dough rise more quickly, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes, remove from the oven, then spread the butter-garlic-seasoning mixture and parmesan over the partially cooked crust. Add mozzarella and finish baking as directed.
