I’m excited to share this easy Halloween idea. I aim to create holiday-themed foods that are quick to make, and these Witch’s Broomstick Breadsticks fit the bill — they’re fun, fast, and great for serving with marinara, soup, or chili.

You can use your favorite yeast dough or shortcut with frozen Rhodes White Dinner Rolls. I used the frozen rolls, allowing them to thaw to room temperature and become slightly risen before shaping. Use as many rolls as you need — I made nine to fit my baking sheet.
Take each roll and cut a small piece off for the wrap that sits above the bristles.

Roll each portion into ropes. The larger piece becomes the main stick — I aim to make it nearly the width of my baking sheet.

Smash one end of the longer rope with a bench scraper, dough cutter, or similar tool to flatten the area where you’ll cut the bristles.

Use the edge of the bench scraper or a knife to cut several slits to form the bristles.

Wrap the small rope around the stick just above the bristles so it looks like the broom’s binding.

Place the shaped broomsticks on a silicone-lined or greased baking sheet about 1 inch apart. Repeat with remaining rolls.

These are a great project for kids — they’re easy and playful to make.

Cover the rolls with a dish towel and let them puff up slightly. Remove the towel and bake according to the roll package directions — typically 350°F for 15–20 minutes — until golden brown. As soon as they come out of the oven, brush them with melted butter. Serve warm with marinara, soup, or chili for dipping.
