Mother’s Day is around the corner, and these cinnamon roll waffles are a simple, special breakfast the kids can help make for Mom. They’re easy enough for little hands to join in, but delicious enough to feel celebratory. I usually wake early to enjoy some quiet time before the day begins — a short workout, a few minutes to think and reflect, and then it’s time to help the kids get ready. Starting the day early helps me stay organized and sets a productive tone for our family.

Parenting is a mix of joy and chaos. I have three creative, energetic kids, and life feels full — sometimes overwhelmingly so — but mornings like a relaxed Mother’s Day make the chaos worthwhile. Instead of simply baking Rhodes cinnamon rolls as directed (which are excellent straight from the oven), I like to press them in a waffle iron for a fun twist. The result is a crisp, golden waffle with all the cinnamon roll flavor in a playful shape.

These Banana Nut Cinnamon Roll Waffles are finished with sliced bananas, chopped pecans, and a drizzle made by mixing maple syrup into the included cream cheese frosting. The maple adds a warm sweetness that complements the cinnamon and the banana, while the pecans give a satisfying crunch. They’re indulgent but quick to prepare — a perfect treat for a special morning.

Banana Nut Cinnamon Roll Waffles
Ingredients
- 6 Rhodes AnyTime! Cinnamon Rolls, thawed
- Cream Cheese Frosting Packet, thawed (comes with rolls)
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 3 to 4 bananas
Instructions
-
In a bowl, whisk the thawed cream cheese frosting with the maple syrup until smooth. Set aside.
-
Place a thawed cinnamon roll between two pieces of wax paper or foil and roll or flatten with a rolling pin into a 4–5 inch circle.
-
Spray a waffle iron lightly with cooking spray and preheat to medium-low. Carefully transfer the flattened roll to the iron.
-
Gently hold the top of the waffle iron down so it doesn’t lift as the roll expands. Cook about 1–2 minutes, or until golden brown (times vary by iron).
-
Remove the waffle with a fork and place on a plate. Repeat with remaining rolls, spraying the iron before each waffle. Be careful—cinnamon filling can be hot and sticky. Clean the iron soon after cooking.
-
Top each waffle with banana slices, chopped pecans, and a drizzle of the maple cream cheese mixture. Serve warm and enjoy.
