These chocolate peanut butter cup donuts are made with Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits for an easy, gourmet-style donut you can make at home.

If you’re a chocolate and peanut butter fan, these donuts are for you. The glossy chocolate ganache paired with a peanut butter drizzle and mini peanut butter cup halves turns simple biscuit dough into an indulgent treat.

These donuts use Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits — a convenient shortcut that still yields tender, rich donuts. Homemade dough is wonderful, but when you want a fast, reliable option that still tastes delicious, these biscuits are ideal.

The result is dark, decadent donuts with a professional look and flavor. If you prefer a sweeter finish, you could add a light glaze, but the combination of semi-sweet chocolate ganache and creamy peanut butter already creates a wonderful balance.

These look like bakery-quality donuts, but you can make them in your kitchen with minimal effort. They’re perfect for a weekend project, a special breakfast, or whenever you need a chocolate-peanut-butter fix.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Donuts
Ingredients
- 8 ct Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits (not flaky layers)
- oil, for frying
- ½ cup (85 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¼ cup (59 ml) heavy cream
- ¼ cup (66 g) creamy peanut butter
- 35 mini peanut butter cups, cut in half
Instructions
-
Fill a large stock pot or Dutch oven with 2 to 3 inches of oil and heat over medium until hot enough for frying.
-
Open the can of biscuits and separate each one. Flatten each biscuit slightly and cut out the center with a small biscuit cutter to form a donut shape.
-
When the oil is hot, fry 3–4 donuts at a time until golden on each side, turning carefully with a skewer or spatula. Drain on paper towels until slightly cooled and repeat with remaining biscuits.
-
Warm the heavy cream (about 30 seconds) until it begins to simmer. Pour over the chocolate chips and stir until smooth to make a ganache.
-
Dip the top half of each donut into the ganache and set on a cooling rack over a baking sheet to catch drips. Allow the ganache to set slightly before adding toppings.
-
Press halved mini peanut butter cups onto the ganache after it has cooled enough so they won’t melt.
-
Warm the peanut butter for about 15 seconds until slightly soft, transfer to a small bag, snip a corner, and drizzle over the donuts in a zig-zag. Store extras in a covered container for a day or two.
